In a VUCA World, it is required from the leadership, the ability to work with incomplete information in a timely manner to decide what actions to take in order to mitigate damage and manage the crisis in question. The wisdom (from experience) and the serenity of decision-makers are essential in these cases as well.

And in a time of crisis, the best talent is the most needed to be taken care of in order to help the company succeed.

To promote an innovative culture capable of being resilient and effective is necessary for an environment of trust, collaboration, and synergy among people in the company.

And adopting an Agile mindset is key to transform the attitudes within the company and foster collaboration among peers. Working with “sprints” with the best talent available in order to reduce the time to market is the best strategy to seize the opportunities on the horizon.

The adoption of agile methodologies leads to a culture of experimentation in which there is a constant feedback loop in the learning process of the company, through trial and error that enables the company to adapt and remain competitive dealing with complex scenarios.

As a side result of the learning process, there is the enrichment of practical (tacit) experience due to the “hands-on” approach of the people involved in each experimentation, leveraging the results of the company in the long term due to the accumulated collective intelligence in the process.

What is happening now in the world is something not seen in the last 100 years, but the difference now is that we have the data, the technology and the talent capable of making the best of it.

For example, the most responsive countries that have been through the pandemic have used data available on mobile devices in order to process and generate recommendations in near real-time, using Big Data technology that requires large volumes of data.
